SPOT COLOR PRINTING

Spot colors are typically used in screen-printing for color accuracy. If the graphic as three spot colors for the print project, it is labeled as a 3 color job. The more colors you use, the more screens we use to print.

PROS: Vivid Colors • Clean Edges

CONS: Spot color does not reproduce every kind of print; it doesn't work for photographic designs • Multiple screens

CMYK PRINTING

CMYK stands for Cyan Magenta Yellow and BlacK (also known as Key)and can be used in screen printing to create a full color design by layering these colors on top of each other.

PROS: Good for photo-realistic prints • Can be accomplished with 4 screens (5 with a white under base for dark garments)

CONS: Exact color match is not a guarantee / PMS match is not possible • CMYK does not result in neon or very bright colors.

Simulated Process printing goes above and beyond CMYK by blending in standard spot colors to achieve high amounts of photorealistic detaill.

PROS: Perfect for full color design or a photograph.

CONS: Photorealistic and complex designs require time and attention to re-create • Simulated process printing may result in a heavier feel on garments.
